About Us
We help you tell your life story
The idea for Life Story School was developed by Greg Gerber, the founder of Forward From 50, in July 2024.
For years, Greg had been sharing stories of people over 50 who were doing some incredible things that often differed from what they had done in their careers. It gave them a sense of purpose, which added flavor to their lives. One story seemed to lead to another.
Greg soon realized EVERYONE has a story to tell because their lives made a difference by impacting others in simple as well as profound ways.
Living in Sun City, Ariz., which is America’s first planned retirement community, it hurt Greg to see so many people take their stories to the grave, rather than retain them so future generations could benefit from their wisdom and experience.
Greg had worked as a journalist and public relations professional since 1984. He was an experienced interviewer who knew how to draw stories and insight out of others. Then, he could craft a compelling story that others enjoyed reading. However, not everyone had that skill.
He learned most people would love to write a story about their lives, or have their stories told for them. But, they don’t know where to begin or even what to talk about.
Greg created Life Story School to help people tell the stories of their lives. Never before in history has there been a way to easily capture those stories and preserve them so others could benefit from hearing them or reading them years later.
Face it, few people knew their great grandparents, yet their stories laid the foundation for generations to come. Every decision they made or event which altered the trajectory of their lives had a ripple effect that extends for generations.
Your genealogy and a family tree only tells part of your story, and a small part at that. Until today, there were few people you could ask to get insight into what shaped the story of you. Do your friends and family a favor by capturing and preserving your life story today.
We are connected by stories
Because our lives interact with other people, your story is part of their story. That’s why it is important for you to preserve yours to help them fill in missing pieces to their lives. For example:
-
- Why did you raise a family in the community you did? Did you have other options? If so, why did you chose that community?
- Who influenced you to select your chosen career? What made it so appealing? Did you ever consider doing something else?
- If you could roll back the clock, is there anything you would have done differently? How would that option have influenced your life? What advice did you receive as a young adult you wish you had adopted?
- Did you struggle trying to break a bad habit you wish you had never started in the first place. Do you have a warning for people headed down that path?
- What was the recipe grandma used to make that delicious holiday dessert? Where was grandpa stationed when he was in the military?
- Leave your grandchildren or favorite nieces and nephews with a lasting tribute about what they meant to you.
We Got Started To Tell Your Story, Your Way, In Your Own Voice
There are lots of ways to tell stories. They can be captured on paper in books and manuscripts. Or they can be recorded and preserved in audio or video files.
When it comes to describing someone’s legacy, those stories are often embellished over the years. Soon nobody remembers what was true.
We help people tell their stories, their way and in their own words.
Our team of experienced writers, journalists and interviewers can help you assemble your life story in an organized, meaningful manner.
Don’t let your legacy be captured in a boring, impersonal obituary. Your life is unique and colorful. Let your true colors shine!
Tell your life story today!
Don’t leave your legacy to chance to be interpreted by people who never got to know the real you.
Work with us to compile your life story into a memorable gift.
